Thanks to a lot of the exhibits being closed on Monday, we had a packed morning in Milan before we left.
We wanted to see the "Last Supper" painting and then inside the castle.
We arrived at Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie first thing in the morning to find out the tickets were all sold out.
One of the many travel angels we encountered throughout our travels heard we were trying to get tickets and happened to have three extra she wasn't using.
Miracle, I tell you.
We had just enough time to walk back to the Castle and then head back to see Leonardo Di Vinci's master piece.
A couple of things... one seeing art that they have restored is great.
They keep it in temperature controlled environments, which means AIR CONDITIONING!
Plus, this was a painting that I knew the history behind it.
And I didn't know that it was painted on an entire wall. This masterpiece was huge.
After seeing the painting we headed back to our apartment to grab our bags and head out on the train to Genvoa.
We were running, it was hot and let's just say we got our first train fine.
We really did try to know what we were doing.
But sometimes its hard with three clueless girls all trying to figure it out.
"This is our European life. Sweating, sticky and running for trains. Getting in and out of Genova was expensive because we bought tickets for the wrong date..... TWICE! And they do not take lightly to you being on the wrong train without a ticket. 50 euro fine each on top of both our tickets. Good thing euros feel like fake money. Or at least we keep telling ourselves that and just laugh." instagram 9/9/14
We finally made it to Genova.
Let's say we only stopped there to see a certain missionary that is related to these two ladies.
We were staying in the hood... or as Tera called it the Village.
The city is filled with alleys that you easily (and we did) get lost in.
It is a port city, so we dropped our bags and went to find a boat.
We jumped on the first one we could and it so happened to be a boat taxi.
Mind you, we found that out after we were already on there.
"Our first Italian friend, Ericrico. He made our night. We were feeling a little lost and jumped on a boat... which so happened to be a boat taxi. Ericrico heard us talking and knowing nothing, turned to us and said, "do you need information?" A voice of an angel, I tell you. He sat and chatted with us and planned our night and day in Genova." We wandered through the city.
We ate.
We found a random pirate ship.
After our nightly Gelato, we walked through the village and I ended up falling asleep mid planning session for the next day.
Life of the European travelers.
