Where my pitches at?!

Should I be embarrassed that my very first league happens to be when I'm 30 and it's kickball?

Let's just say, Thursday nights are a complete blast thanks to kickball.
We have an awesome team and just yell and laugh our guts out.
Our current standing our 5-2 and 5th in the league out of 24 teams.

We have one more game in regular season and to the playoffs we go!
Let's go, Pitches!

Keith Urban came "Back to me"

Keith Urban is my musical boyfriend.
I have seen him in concert more times than I can count (2013, 2011, 2009 have all been documented on the blog)

He hasn't been back to Utah since 2009.
I was happy when I saw his tour announcement and he would be stopping in SLC.
The stars were aligned and I was selected for a meet & greet.
Let's just say, I was super nervous.
He was so kind.
Called me "baby"
And gave me the best hug.

Needless to say the concert was great.
Cristina came up from Phoenix to join the Keith Urban party.
We had pit "seats".
We were right in front of the stage and couldn't have asked for a better place to see him.

Sophia started hinting around the week of the concert.
Turns out I had an extra ticket.
So we declared her birthday celebration a little early this year.
Hopefully she remembers how much fun she had when October 30th rolls around.
My mom and dad even joined the party in the pit and I turned around and saw this face.
Priceless!

 This concert did not disappoint.
Meeting Keith and then watching him perform for 2.5 hours was a pretty fantastic night in my books.

California Dreamin'

I'm starting to really think I belong in California.
The amount of time I spend traveling there annually is starting no get a little ridiculous.
I know there is still at least 1 more trip in 2014.
The ocean and warm weather continually call my name.

I planned a trip with my dear friend Melinda and her sisters.
I was lucky enough to see Keri while I was out there.
It was a weekend at the beach.
and one of my favorite trips I've had.

We were staying in Long Beach and enjoyed beaches in Hunnington, Long Beach and NewPort.
Keri was kind enough to make the drive to Long Beach to beach with us.

We rented a Kayak and paddled our way through the water.
Turns out our way out was with the current.
So we got our workout on the way back.
It was a lot of fun and we just chatted away the entire time.
We have some good adventures ahead of us!
Meet Henry.
He is the sweetest boy you'll ever meet.
This was the face I would wake up to every morning.
I sure am missing his sweet smiles.
We explored Balboa Island on Sunday.
It was gorgeous and so fun to wander around the beach and pier.
I'm so thankful to Melinda and her sweet sisters.
I felt like I was with my own sisters.
I feel lucky enough to have three great sisters of my own, much less to have some adopted sisters as well.
We all laughed and chatted the entire weekend together.
I loved it.
This girl is top notch and I am grateful that we have both kept the friendship up after she quit.
She is quality and I need those type of people in my life.

You know it is a great trip when you are really sad when it is time to get on the plane.
I could have continued to stay out there all week.
But thanks to a job, I had to come back.
It was such a wonderful few days at the beach.
Hopefully, I can sneak on the next Altmyer sister trip!  ;)

To East Canyon we go

East Canyon and summer goes hand in hand for the Best Family.
My dad was kind enough to rent wave runners for us again this year.
We camped up there for two nights and enjoyed the water.
The kiddos were in heaven.

Another successful trip for the books.
Julie, Natalie and I could all live on the lake all summer and still not have enough time on the water.
Most of the kiddos are following in our foot steps.

three white girls at Lauryn Hill

Summer time in Utah is the absolute best.
There is lots of boating.
Patio dining.
and many outdoor concerts.

Megan, Daph and I all went to the first Twilight concert of the summer.
Lauryn Hill has been a favorite of mine since I was in high school.
Her voice won me over in Sister Act 2.

She may not like white people.
But we didn't care.
We hung out with all the youngsters that have never heard of here before.

Hopefully, I will be able to hit up a couple more concerts at the park before the cold weather creeps in.

Oakley Rodeo Roundup

A summer should always include a rodeo.
Thanks to the sweet Wright family I was able to attend the Oakley rodeo the second year in a row.
We so happened to run into this gem of a cowboy....

and his sidekick, Matt.
Love being with three people I love dearly!

The Best Family Fourth

The fourth of July is the Best Family holiday.
It's not secret we like to have fun (2013, 2012, 2011, 2009)
I love celebrating this holiday.
It is better than Christmas.
All the time spent with family and friends but so much less stress.
Wednesday night, I received a phone call from Dylan.
He asked me if I would run with him in the 5k.
Julie is far too competitive in this 5k and it never ends well with her and Dylan running together.
I gladly accepted his invitation.
Dylan likes to sprint for a good 2-3 minutes and then he is dead the rest of the time.
I let him sprint and caught up to him within .75 miles.
We then continued the rest of the 5k with each other.
He was a great running buddy and only stopped a few times.

2014 Best Family Runners.
Julie was the winner 25:00
Matt and Gabers were only a couple minutes behind her.
Porter is really into picking the poses for pictures.
Here were some of his greatest ones from the 4th.

After the run we headed over to the city breakfast and then to the parade.
I love being home and doing the Layton city celebration.
Luke was feeling pretty cool on his first holiday with his shades.
We were all pretty overheated after the parade and run.
We headed up to Talia's pool (Thanks again Talia!)
The kids and adults had a blast.

You can see that Matt & Luke were tuckered out...
And so was Grandma
It was time for the family BBQ followed with a dance party in the back and then half the crew headed to LHS for the fireworks while the others stayed and watched them from M&D's house.

Luke was really loving the fireworks.
It was a great day.
Grateful for the freedom our country has.
The men and women that have sacrificed their life for my freedom.
